History of Scouting in Ireland

As a parent it’s natural that you would want to be assured of their child’s safety and welfare wherever they are. Scouting Ireland is committed to ensuring that our youth members learn, develop and have fun in a safe and secure environment. We have developed robust child protection, recruitment and selection policies and procedures. These policies and procedures are consistent with National child protection policy and with good practice guidelines in the Youth Work sector in the Republic and in Northern Ireland.

Our ‘Code of Good Practice’ outlines our child protection policies and procedures.

Our Constitution and Rules are the documents that govern how we operate.

When a youth member takes part in a Scout Activity it is important that the Scouter in Charge has all medical information relating to the youth member in hand. To aid this process Scouting Ireland require that  a medical consent form is filled in by the parent. To download the Managing Medications Form click HERE

We are happy to discuss any queries you may have in relation to the implementation of these procedures in 1st Port.
